Lunch at GC3 Cafe
As I’ve written before, The Walt Disney Company is incredibly accommodating and informed when it comes to gluten free diets. Their employee cafeterias are no different! Yesterday, I had lunch at the GC3 Cafe, which is the employee cafeteria located on Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus in Glendale.
When you enter the cafeteria, there is a large sign showing different types of food available and the color sticker associated with each of the labels. All packaged food with a round yellow sticker on it is made gluten free. This makes it really easy! You can also look for other colored stickers for different dietary requirements or interests you may have. For those who eat gluten free diets, they offer Udi’s bread for deli sandwiches, cooked-to-order food and daily specials that are gluten free, and a large salad bar.
I had a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich on Udi’s gluten free white bread, a chilled vegan salad of quinoa, raw diced tomato, and raw sliced cucumber, and a cup of fresh fruit. It was great! I brought my own drink in a water bottle, since I’m totally in love with Tazo Passion Tea right now.
It’s great that a place with lots of gluten free meal choices is available to Disney employees (and lucky for me, guests of employees too!) but it’s also too bad that a similar place is not available to the public. Seeing employers offer dietary options like this gives me hope that the availability of gluten free food will continue to increase in the future. Cafe Bon Appetit, who manages food service on this campus, seems to really have it figured out!

That’s awesome that Disney is so accommodating with their food offerings! I’m in love with all of Tazo teas, but Passion is one of my favorites, too!
